There is something familiar about gathering again. On the evening of September 17th, 43 members and friends of our Community of Servant-Leaders filled the Leo Center this fall, sharing a meal, reconnecting with one another, and remembering the work that has brought us together for nearly 30 years.

This summer, over 60 children filled Tierra Vida’s youth summer program to capacity. They ranged from little ones at the kindergarten level, stepping into a classroom for the very first time, all the way up to sixth graders. This year the Tierra Vida team wanted the kids to come away having learned something real. So the summer was organized around a simple, open-ended theme: How Things Work.

For 30 years the Vista Hermosa Foundation has stewarded a legacy of supporting Haitian-led community development. This past month, we had the privilege of welcoming several incredible leaders and organizations working in Haiti.

On July 24, community leaders gathered to honor Joe Shelton’s legacy and celebrate organizations bringing hope, healing, and support to communities through mental health services, cultural connection, and compassionate care.

When life redirected his plans, Rick Griffin discovered that servant-leadership is not about position or title. Through neuroscience and compassion, he now helps others replace judgment with empathy and build the community we were created to pursue.

On May 27, Tierra Vida celebrated 11 graduates with a heartfelt ceremony. Royale shared his journey, reflecting on challenges and encouraging graduates to pursue their goals with confidence and determination.

NELA celebrated 8th grade and kindergarten graduations, highlighting God’s faithfulness as students grew in servant leadership, academics, and character through meaningful ceremonies and shared joy.
