It was an honor to host Glen Knopp and his family on the 23rd March 2018 at the Collegium Café. The Knopp family owns Inland Tarp and Liner. It is with great pride that we at the Center for Sharing have been able to partner with the Knopp family, who has been supporting the ministry of Center for Sharing for many years. His love for people and their development is a common goal that we share. And it is because of the partnership with amazing people such as Glen that we at the Center for Sharing has been able to transform lives through the years.
In the past 35 years, Inland Tarp has evolved from a west coast hay tarp manufacturer and service company to one of the largest U.S. custom fabricators of premium quality polyethylene and vinyl products.
Glen recalled an incident that as a farmer in the Marlin area he was covering his hay and visiting with a cousin in a 100 degree plus weather. I said to my cousin “Boy I wish there was an easier way to do this”. His cousin then recalled hearing about tarp material available in Canada to stretch over the agricultural product. I purchased some and before long, other farmers were asking for a similar product. But the tarp did not hold up well in the high windy areas, so I designed a new tie-down system believing the process of putting a tarp on should be easy. “It became the standard of the market and it just grew from there,” Glen said, “to the point that I had to make a decision if I was going to continue farming as I couldn’t do both.” Glen started the insulation program and ultimately decided to manufacture tarps. That’s how the amazing journey of Glen Knopp began in 1980.
To meet him in person and hear about his inspirational life was an event to be cherished. We thank Glen and his family for taking time to visit us and for being an inspiration to us through the years to continue with our life changing endeavors.
