TWO EXCEPTIONAL KIDS

Last week two brothers walked into the Collegium. They were John Seih and John Win aged 9 & 8 years old and live in the Tierra Vida community. They appeared to be quite excited and ordered four milk shakes. Rachel asked them why they were ordering the two extra milk shakes. They instantly told her that they bought the extra milk shakes for their friends.

I thought that this was an amazing gesture and asked them what prompted them to buy the milk shakes for their friends as well. What I heard in return was quite fascinating. The elder brother John Seih said that “sharing is caring” and “sharing is to be nice”. The younger brother John Win very confidently said that “God is watching us, and God is happy when we do good things and sad when we do bad stuff”. They talked about how it is nice to share with one another as it spreads love.

I was delighted to hear how confidently these boys spoke about love and sharing. There is so much to learn from these little ones and we at the Center for Sharing realize that their behavior and thinking is a reflection of good parenting, apart from other institutions that impact their lives such as the school, the community where they live etc.

At the Center for Sharing we would like to congratulate everyone who has played a role in the lives of these two exceptional kids.
