Please welcome Jackie Ogega

Broetje Family Trust is an association of three foundations collectively stewarding a family legacy of “bearing fruit that will last” through servant leadership, community building, and philanthropy. Global Grants is an initiative of Vista Hermosa Foundation that partners with organizations committed to community-led development that promotes healing and reconciliation for both people and the planet. 

Building on this commitment, we are delighted to announce the hiring of Dr. Jackie Ogega as our new Director of Social Justice & Philanthropy.

Dr. Jacqueline Ogega [Jackie] is an inspiring leader and development practitioner for social justice, with over 25 years of experience connecting philanthropic resources to communities in order to advance sustainable development. She has dedicated her life and career to social justice initiatives, addressing systemic inequalities with a particular focus on supporting vulnerable individuals and communities. She is the co-founder of Mpanzi Empowering Women and Girls, a community-based organization dedicated to community development, violence prevention, health, and wellbeing. She has served as a U.S. Diplomat with USAID, where she managed complex multi-stakeholder initiative to advance the U.S. Government’s efforts to protect children and prevent and respond to gender-based-violence globally.

At World Vision, Jackie directed multi-million-dollar initiatives to promote development and humanitarian emergency relief, with a focus on equality and protection of the most vulnerable children and adults. Jackie has demonstrated exceptional leadership in fostering community-led development and creating lasting multi-stakeholder partnerships with civil society organizations, the private sector, funders, government, and academia. As an educator, she has taught high school and at higher institutions of learning including the University of Nairobi, the School for International Training in Vermont, and Messiah University in Pennsylvania.

Her academic background is interdisciplinary, with a Doctor of Philosophy in peace and conflict studies from the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom, a Master of Arts in gender and development studies from the University of Nairobi, a Bachelor’s in Education from Kenyatta University, and a certificate in Executive Leadership from Cornell University of New York. She is the author of Women, Religion, & Peacebuilding published with Palgrave Macmillan, and Home Is Us.
