Jubilee Foundation is a faith-based, not for profit organization founded by Ralph and Cheryl Broetje in 1995 as one of a number of organizations that were birthed by their parent company, Broetje Orchards, to serve their family mission.
Jubilee’s specific mission is to “develop communities that welcome all, nurture spiritual-wellbeing, and evoke individuals’ gifts to serve the common good.”
For much of its initial years, Jubilee Foundation was a property owner and ministry host.
Our first investment was in land and facilities adjacent to Broetje Orchards so that Jubilee Leadership Academy could operate a residential program for teenage boys. Recognizing that there was an urgent need for a safe place for troubled teens across the USA, Jubilee Leadership Academy served nearly 2,500 boys from 1995-2018. In its final years, as the program embraced trauma-informed care, it became clear that solutions for struggling youth and families would be more strongly nurtured within lived communities over a longer period of time.
This learning was reinforced by Jubilee Foundation’s second investment, the Tierra Vida community which was started in 2005. Since this time, Jubilee Foundation has facilitated the development of 250 single-family homes and built over 130 multi-family units. These buildings provide the place where our continuing work happens – building community through diversity, outreach to vulnerable families, collective action, and connections.
